RADIO STATION in SAN JULIAN, BOLIVIA

TransWorld Radio and the Montrose Broadcasting Corporation teamed up to raise funds for a radio station in Bolivia.  Listeners  from WPEL, WPGM. and WBGM raised over $20,000 for the equipment for a radio station to be built in San Julian, Bolivia.  In June of 2006 our chief engineer, our stand-by engineer, and a member of the Board of the Montrose Broadcasting Corporation and his wife traveled to Bolivia.  They spent approximately two weeks helping the Bolivians in the construction of the radio station.  The San Julian station re-broadcasts the radio signal from the headquarters  in Pilone.
The vision for a radio station in San Julian came from a core group of dedicated Quechen believers.

Our team flew over the majestic Ande Mountains and ultimately ended up in the village of San Julian.
Can four adults, 5 large suitcases of equipment, luggage for four and oh yes, the driver all fit in this vehicle?

Another mode of transportation the team used is this taxi.

CONSTRUCTION PICTURES:

The lightning ground system for the antenna was industriously dug by hand.

Some of the tasks that our men accomplished in their stay in Boliva were anchoring the guy wires, running transmission line to put the antenna on the tower, installing a relay antenna, and installing the transmitter antenna.  The men were doing all of this on a 400 ft. tower.  Enough work to keep everyone busy!

But not only outside work was done, don't forget the inside work necessary for radio broadcasting.  Someone needs to connect all those wires!

While the team was there is was their joy to be able to attend the dedication service of the radio station in San Julian.

Our Bolivian friends waving thank you.

LETTERS from the MAILBAG AT THE SAN JULIAN STATION:
"...This radio is what builds my faith, it encourages me when I am alone.  It gives more more faith that one day my husband too will come to know the Lord...."

"...First of all I want to greet all the people that work at RTM radio in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  I also want to thank you for all the wonderful radio programs; these programs teach me so much everyday plus they help me so much,  RTM radio is like my dog because it is my faithful companion.  Where ever I go my radio goes with me.  Radio feeds me when I am discouraged, I give thanks to the Lord for this Christian radio which is like a strong soldier...."

"...I wish you could come and see my children when the children hour is on.  They all sit around the radio and have their mouths wide open and are so excited about the stories and songs that come over...."

"...What a blessing it is to go to sleep with Christian radio and wake up with radio, such blessings from the Lord."

"...For 55 years of my life I served the world, I worshipped idols, and had several idols in my home.  I felt I was totally obligated to serve these idols.  Now through radio I have come to the Lord.  We now serve God and thank God for radio.  ..."

And from the staff:  We receive so many calls, it is such a blessing to get calls from listeners and all the encouragement we get from them on how radio is their source of light and help spiritually.
Just 3 km from RTM a new church is being built.  This church began because of RTM radio messages and songs.
