Many people see homeschooling as “alternative” education, but a look at history finds that it is other education systems that are the real, newer, alternative educational methods.
Up until the early 1900s, education usually took place in the home with parents teaching children the three “R”s…as well as most life skills. Reading, Writing and Arithmatic are colloquially referred to as the three R’s.
