We see them in the headlines with more and more frequency….County Sheriff’s office warns consumers of scammers impersonating Police….or Dept of Homeland Security…or a bank agent urgently requesting your account information to prevent an “unauthorized” withdrawl…or the classic “Hello, we’ve been trying to reach you about your cars extended warranty…”
Often they involve a request for payment in gift cards from popular stores or even apple pay, but we soon learn they are often attempts to defraud people from their hard earned savings….but, what if there is more to this multi-billion dollar industry that is more insidious?
